Biography
John McElroy is an assistant professor of writing at Michigan State University. He earned his Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction (English education/ adolescent literacy) from Clemson University in 2017. His professional background also includes more than a decade teaching middle and high school English and social studies and a short four-year stint as a technical writer.

WRA 101: Writing as Inquiry
This course emphasizes the study and practice of invention, arrangement, revision, style, and delivery to help students make successful transitions to writing, reading, and researching in higher education. Students develop an approach to writing as a process of inquiry, discovery, and communication.
IAH 207, Literatures, Cultures, Identities
Explorations in how literature reflects, creates, and challenges cultural and individual identities. Approaches and materials from literature, philosophy, the arts, religion, and history. This course specifically examined the changing face of ideology for writers across literary time periods
English 102 (Tri-County Technical College; Denmark Technical College)
This is a (college transfer) course in which the following topics are presented: Development of writing skills through logical organization, effective style, literary analysis and research. An introduction to various literary genres is also included
EDSC 4540 Secondary English Capstone Seminar (Clemson University)
A seminar in conjunction with EDSC 4440 (Teaching Internship in Secondary English.) Interns reflect upon and solve problems regarding teaching events, share effective teaching practices, and devise ways to document dimensions of effective teaching.
