Biography
Alex Vlasov makes mixed media paintings with an emphasis in mark-making and a strong sense of experimentation with materiality and consideration for the surface. By obsessively employing repeating components, Vlasov forms a visual vocabulary, allowing him to compose and recompose his paintings in different ways. Vlasov holds a BFA in Painting and a minor in Visual Culture from the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland, Ohio. Vlasov was born in Russia, but moved to the United States as a teenager. He has lived in Florida, New Jersey, New York, Maine, and Ohio.
