Biography

Saya Uehara, Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics, Languages, and Cultures, comes to MSU from Tokyo Seitoku University where she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of International Studies for two years. Prior to that, she was an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of Notre Dame from 2018-2021. Her research focus is on phonetics, phonology, sociolinguistics, and second-language acquisition. She has taught Japanese as a foreign language, ESL, language teaching methods, and linguistics courses. Michigan State University is her alma mater and has a Ph.D. in Linguistics.
