Biography
Michael Toole, Assistant Professor of Japanese Studies in the Department of Linguistics, Languages, and Cultures, comes to MSU from the University of Denver. He worked for three years at the University of Denver as a Teaching Assistant Professor of Japanese. Prior to that, Michael taught Japanese and Japanese Studies courses at Macalester College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His scholarship explores the relationship between sexuality and order in early modern Japan visual culture and Luso-Japanese cultural production. He holds a PhD in Japanese from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an A.M. in Japanese Literature from Washington University in St. Louis.
