Biography
Dr. Lucia Cardenas Curiel is as Assistant Professor in bilingual/multilingual education in the department of Teacher Education at the College of Education. She currently holds the position of subject area leader in the area of TESOL and is a core faculty member for the Global Educators Cohort program. Dr. Cardenas examines literacy practices that authentically engage bi/multilingual learners in the classroom and support their academic success in schools. Her work explores the relationship between language, literacy, and the use of a variety of texts to understand how young learners build knowledge in different subject areas, in particular Latina/o bilingual children.
