Biography

Melissa Klamer is a doctoral candidate in English at Michigan State University, working at the intersection of Victorian Life Writing and Digital Humanities. The centerpiece of her born-digital dissertation will be a TEI-XML encoded digital edition of a 19th-century manuscript motherhood diary. Melissa is currently in her second year as a Communication Consultant in the EY Communication Center at the Eli Broad College of Business. In addition to her doctoral work, she is an active Editor on the Digital Mitford Project, transcribing and coding the letters of Mary Russell Mitford. Her pedagogy foregrounds the side-by-side implementation of digital tools and archival texts in the classroom, and emphasizes revision as core writing practice, multimodal composition strategies, and community engagement with literary history.
