Biography
By day, Dr. J teaches First-Year Writing with an emphasis on identity formation and cultural influence. In his classes, students use writing to inquire into the world around them and into the aspects of themselves that make them who they are. And then they write about how having written about those things changes or impacts how they think and feel about them. Also by day, he teaches women’s and gender studies using intergroup dialogue strategies to engage in difficult conversations around important social issues like privilege, oppression, and intersectionality. By night, he spoils his cat. And sometimes sleeps.
