Biography
Nicole Huff is a PhD student in the English department. She received her bachelor’s from Kalamazoo College and completed a thesis titled: “Black Girl Magic and Lemonade,” which consisted of a collection of short stories influenced by Beyoncé’s Lemonade and a critical analysis of the visual album. She graduated with her master’s in English from DePaul University in 2020 where she wrote another thesis titled: “Racialization, Sexualization and Resistance: A ’Subtle’ Look at Our Nig and ‘A Subtlety.’” Overall, her research interests focus on 19th and 20th century African American literature and its intersections with black feminist theory and performance theory in modern black visual culture.
