Biography

Daphne Daugherty, Instructor in the department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Cultures, is a current dissertator in the Ph.D. program in Public Rhetorics and Community Engagement at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and she also holds a Master of Arts in Writing from Missouri State University. Her dissertation work uses theories of Public Rhetorics and Cultural Rhetorics to investigate how Americans talk and write about the natural world, specifically in relation to state parks and recreation areas. She has taught courses in a variety of writing genres, including first-year writing, grant writing, business writing, and writing for engineers. Although her teaching and academic focuses are both in undergraduate composition courses, she also writes poetry and has an interest in documentary poetics.
