Biography

CaraMia Rose Bertoni is an Assistant Professor, multimedia artist, and freelance Graphic Designer. After obtaining her BFA in Graphic Design in 2016, and MFA in Graphic Design from Eastern in 2019 she now resides in Ypsilanti, MI. She has done corporate design work over the past couple years for Eastern Michigan University. Ranging from the EMU Athletics Department to the organization Campus Life. Since 2020, she has taught Graphic Design Courses at both Eastern Michigan University and Washtenaw Community College. She has now started teaching at Michigan State University as an Assistant Professor in Graphic Design. With teaching she instructs her students to think conceptually, pushes the constructs and boundaries of design, teaching them up to date techniques/branding guidelines and design aesthetics, and to investigate one’s own design process. For CaraMia, the will for more knowledge, techniques, and pushing the boundaries of design is what drives her and her work. Her work focuses on personal experiences and bringing awareness to her own mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. She works across media, focusing on digital collage, printing, painting, drawing, and watercolor. Creating psychological spaces for the viewer to engage with and transcend to.
