Angela Jean Sanchez

Angie Sanchez is Anishinaabekwe, an enrolled Ojibway and Odawa from Kchi-Wiikwedong, Michigan. She is a PhD student in the Department of Geography, Environment and Spatial Sciences at Michigan State University where her research focuses on increasing access to breastfeeding support services in Indigenous Communities. She holds a BA in Communications as well as an MBA, both from MSU. Angie is the founder of The Nooni Project, and cofounder of the nonprofit Sacred Waters Collective, both of which support birthwork and breastfeeding for Indigenous people in the state of Michigan. Angie was hired in August of 2023 as a predoctoral fellow in American Indian & Indigenous Studies and plans to graduate in Spring of 2024.
