Biography

Lance Conley is a PhD candidate. His dissertation focuses on the relationship between philosophical conceptions of pessimism manifest in twenty-first century fiction and their relationship to questions of ethics and politics in American history. Drawing heavily on continental philosophy, his research analyzes the fundamentally ethical component of writing pessimistic fiction.
