Biography
Sadam Issa is an Associate Professor of Arabic Studies in the Department of Linguistics, Languages, and Cultures. His research interests range from discourse analysis and sociolinguistics, to research on anxiety in the classroom, the use of technology, visual rhetoric, and lastly, political cartoons. He has published articles in a number of journals including: Al-‘Arabiyya, Pragmatics and Society, Arabic Studies Quarterly, the Journal of Politeness Research, Popular Music and Society, The Journal of the National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages (NCOLCTL), and the Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics. He is currently writing a book on Arabic political cartoons. Sadam Issa is leading an Arabic Study Abroad Program in Amman Jordan (Click Here for More Information). He is also a certified Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) tester with a full certification from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
